Installing FastWP Themes

There were some complaints regarding theme stylesheet missing error that customers get when uploading the theme, so we decided to create a small tutorial on how to correctly upload our theme and install them on your host.

Let's begin.

A common issue that can occur when installing a FastWP WordPress themes is “The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.” error message being displayed when uploading or activating the theme.

One of the reasons you may receive this error is if you have uploaded the incorrect file. You have 2 options for downloading your theme from Envato Market.

All files & documentation - Which is the main folder with all files from Demo Content to Documentation and the installable WordPress archive.

Installable WordPress file only - This contains ONLY the theme, nothing else, no documentation, no demo content XML's and such. Just the theme .zip archive for installation.

Your installable file will look something like this.

To install it just upload this .ZIP archive into your WordPress installation in Appearance/Themes

All files and Documentation folder. In here you will need to locate the installable WordPress .zip archive, which is usually located in Theme-Name-v1.x in our case Borano-Theme-v1.x see the screenshot bellow.

NOTE: Please make sure you are uploading only the installable theme which is called NameOf Theme.zip. If you upload ALL these files you will receive an error.

Upload the Installable WordPress file only in WordPress Admin Area

  • Log in to your WordPress admin area.
  • Browse to Appearance > Themes.
  • Click on ‘Add New’.
  • Click ‘Upload’.
  • Browse and select the theme zip file to ‘Upload’.

Upload Via FTP

In this case you will need to extract the Borano.zip archive and upload the folder called Borano to your /wp-content/themes/ directory through FTP.

NOTE: Do not upload the zipped archive Borano.zip, extract it before uploading it else it won't work.

  • WordPress files can also be uploaded manually via FTP.
  • Upload the files to /wp-content/themes/ folder on your server.
  • Login to your WordPress admin area to change the theme.
  • Check out the guide on WordPress.org here.

That's pretty much all, please read this article carefully and follow it step by step to avoid future issues when installing our themes.
